| Education & Human Services Academy |  | Johnson graduates from this academy will pursue many educational goals; some may opt for vocational training or some may opt to achieve an advanced college degree. All graduates will understand the necessity of becoming life-long learners.
Students in this academy enjoy working with and helping many different kinds of people. Students will also be interested in issues of equity in housing, civil rights, social justice and education. Students will study topics in psychology, ethics, community development, conflict resolution, management techniques, and public policy. This academy will introduce students to experiences in social services, law and legal services, personal and consumer services, and child and family services.
Students are developing these skills: conflict resolution, problem solving skills, good listening skills, oral & communication skills
This academy is designed to help students understand the basic underpinnings and practices in today’s business world. Students will explore business ownership, marketing and management, business ethics, the global economy and computer technology in the workplace. Students will have the opportunity to study the stock market and invest $100,000 playing a stock market game. Students will experience 1) Job shadowing in an area of interest; 2) Possible internships with Headstart, with Explorer Scout legal or law enforcement groups, with welfare workers at the govt. center, with daycare, or with a cosmetology school; 3) Senior Project could be in any human service area of interest _____________________________ Academy Leader: Maggi Schiller
