Finale The Final Frontier
What: • A 9 week class to support your work on your senior project. • You will receive structured lessons, assignments, and deadlines all to help your project meet or exceed JHS expectations. • We will work on the research and writing of your paper, proper documentation of your product, putting together a presentation portfolio, and creating a presentation that highlights all the great work you have done.
Who: • The most important people in this process are: You Your mentor Your advisor Your teacher- Mary Voigt Phone: 612-599-1458 email: mary.voigt@spps.org
How I Earn my Credit: • Complete assignments including forms, drafts, and class work. Students who don’t hand in their paper drafts have a difficult time passing the class. Rough drafts are due: Dec.11th, Dec. 18th, Jan. 8th • Turn in 4th/Final draft of senior project paper: Friday, January, 15th. • Complete your senior product: Tuesday, January 19th. • Present your project to your Finale class: January 21st-January 27th. • You may fail Finale by not meeting class deadlines and/or through poor quality work. Finale failure does not automatically mean you will not be ready to present on Thursday, February 25th. In the past, a few (very few) students failed Finale, but managed to pull everything together for their advisor.
Your official presentation date is: Thursday, February 25th , 3:00-5:00pm. • All items required for your presentation are due to your advisor on: Monday, February 1st. • Advisory presentations will be held: February 2-4, February 9-11, February 16-18. • Friday, February 19th, 2010: Drop dead date. This is the day advisors turn in the list of seniors ready to present (along with your completed presentation portfolio). If you’re not on this list, you don’t present on the 25th and your graduation status will be on hold.
Parents: Please call me if you become concerned about your child’s Senior Project progress.
